Wire Free Environmental Monitoring – Technology Connection’s Environmental Monitoring is a wire-free, real-time environmental monitoring alternative to expensive hard-wired systems. Easily deployed, the flexibility of its wire-free approach enables customers to monitor environmental conditions wherever and whenever necessary. It consists of Technology Connection’s intelligent wire-free (Active RFID) sensors, readers and sensor management software that together monitor, manage, and alert Technology Connection’s sensor-generated data regarding temperature/humidity, status of dry contact devices, fluid detection, smoke detection, door opening/closing and more. All sensors are reported through a non-intrusive frequency to a small receiving station which is relayed to a monitoring station for user friendly reports.

Technology Connection’s Environmental Monitoring allows for constant climate control over your data center/s which can essentially help control the energy efficiency, and overall PUE (power usage efficiency) of your data center. Through wireless temperature and humidity sensors, proper server inlet temperature set points can be established and maintained. This will help the equipment endure a longer life cycle, and also save on energy costs all working in conjunction towards improved efficiency. There is a point at which the inlet temperature of a server and server fans meet, in turn, optimizing total efficiency. This efficiency is acquired by finding the highest server inlet temperature at which the fans in the servers do not turn on, or work at a minimal rate. The savings acquired is not only through the decrease in server energy draw through the reduced workload of server fans, but also through a reduced work rate from CRAC/CRAH units to provide cool air to the heat load.
